The countdown to the start of the third edition of the Saudi Dakar Rally begins

The countdown to the start of the third edition of the Saudi Dakar Rally 2022 has begun, as preparations are in full swing for the launch of the 44th edition of the Dakar International Rally after less than 3 months, which will be hosted by Saudi Arabia for the third time in a row from 2 to 14 January.

Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, said in a media statement: “All preparations continue to ensure the integration of preparations and adherence to the approved organizational program, to support the plans in place to present a model version of all aspects in line with Saudi Arabia’s prestigious position globally and its pioneering path. And writing a new Saudi success story, embodying the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and translating the support of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

He stressed the importance of continuing the organizational work of the remaining stages at a high pace and large bids in order to reach the starting point in a distinctive and impressive manner.

He said, "The past period witnessed intensive preparations to ensure the continuation of the pace of preparatory work at the highest levels in order to overcome organizational integration to the stage of dazzling and excellence, as we are used to in major events hosted by the country."

And he added: “We look forward to making the event exceptional in keeping with the ancient history of the rally, and the success that Saudi Arabia recorded in its previous two editions, and building on these gains to assure the world once again the civilization and beauty that characterizes Saudi Arabia, while the eyes of millions are directed towards the country with the start of the rally after less than 3 months.” from now on".

According to the plan, the convoys of participants from around the world will meet in the French port of Marseille at the beginning of next December, before sailing towards the port of Jeddah, where the vehicles will be unloaded from the decks of the ships on the 27th and 28th of the same month, and in the meantime, work is in full swing. To put the final touches on the track and equip it with the necessary technical equipment to measure the timings and inspect the traffic and control points in the early stages in the Hail desert.

After making sure that all the logistical tasks are completed, the focus shifts to the competitions on the ground, as the participants begin to put the final touches and adjust the parameters of their cars, trucks and bikes, to reach the optimal formula for the first stages of the rally in the Empty Quarter desert.
