Djurgården opened the match briskly and morale was probably raised by the fact that they managed an early box play and when Linus Arnesson worked home and interrupted a free kick for Elmer Söderblom.

When Frölunda went on his first expulsion in the match - Anders Grönlund for tripping - it took only 18 seconds before young defender Pontus Johansson sent in 1-0 with a sweeping shot from the backfield.

The new acquisition Peter Holland received the assist points.

Frölunda's answer, however, did not wait.

Barely two minutes later, Söderblom took revenge after the burnt free kick when he whipped in 1-1 with a backhand between the legs of goalkeeper Niklas Svedberg.
