The controversy over the quality of sports facilities in Algeria has returned to the fore again after two players from the national team criticized a stadium that hosted their match with Niger in the framework of the World Cup qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

And the star of the national team, Riyad Mahrez, said that the floor of the Mustafa Shaker stadium in Blida, south of the capital Algiers, was poor, despite its restoration at an earlier date.

He added in the press conference after the end of the match that the television images do not show their poor quality, unlike the player who activates over the green rectangle, and discovers the extent of his disability.

In turn, Islam Soleimani criticized the floor of the Mustafa Shaker stadium, saying, "It does not help to highlight the style of play of his colleagues, which depends on the balls and technical review."

"The Greens" coach Djamel Belmadi was content with silence during the players' talk in the press conference on the pitch, stressing that he had talked enough about what he called the "black point" and did not want to repeat what he said.

This is not the first time that the Algerian national team and its technical management have complained about the quality of the pitches that host their matches, whether in the African qualifiers or the World Cup.

Early last month, the coach of the Algerian national team criticized the state of the stadiums in his country and called for attention to them.

Belmadi said at the time in a press statement, "In June of last year, the pitch of the Chaker stadium was perfect and works according to FIFA standards, and now we are surprised by the disastrous situation on it."

He added, "It is a shame that in a country like Algeria there are no playable stadiums. The pretext of the heat and climatic conditions is not appropriate. I lived and trained in Qatar, and the temperature there is 60 degrees, but the stadiums are very beautiful."
