Frölunda went to Helsinki as leader of group B in the CHL.

The home team IFK Helsinki faced the match on the same points as Frölunda, and the group final would prove to be an even story.

The home team started best

After 13 minutes, Micke Åsten made it 1-0 for Helsinki.

Frölunda fought, but it took until the last minute of the second period before defender Filip Johansson, 21, slipped in the equalizer to 1-1, after Patrik Carlsson played forward.

Patrik Carlsson dominated

The Finnish capital team started the third period best.

After just over five minutes, Jordan Schmaltz put 2-1 in powerplay after Christian Folin went out two minutes for tripping.

Frölunda's answer came less than two minutes later, when Patrik Carlsson put 2-2 after a fine solo performance.

When then Christian Folin went out for tripping again, the home team saw their chance to win;

instead, the match's giant Patrik Carlsson got hold of the puck and was able to put 3-2 at a numerical disadvantage.

Frölunda in a good position before the final round

3-2 to the Gothenburg team was also the final result after Frölunda held off and that Patrik Carlsson thus scored three points (2 + 1).

Frölunda still leads the group and has a good starting position for the last group game at home against Helsinki on Tuesday 12 October.

The two best teams advance from the group.

Växjö and Leksand lost

In the other Swedish matches of the round, Växjö put itself in a difficult starting position before the last round after losing 1-3 away against TPS.

The Smålanders are currently third in the group and will meet TPS again at home on 12 October.

Leksand, who are already ready for group advancement during their first season in the CHL, lost at home to Swiss Friborg by 2-5 after leading 2-0 after the first period.
