In August, Henrik Lundqvist announced that his ice hockey career is over.

The New York Rangers then announced that Lundqvist's shirt will be retired - where he played for 15 years.

Now a date has been set.

"January, 28, 2022. Number 30 will rise to the ceiling in the world's most famous arena," the New York Rangers wrote on Twitter.

"The place that meant so much"

The 39-year-old will be the eleventh player in the club to have his shirt hoisted to the ceiling.

The tribute will take place in connection with the match against Minnesota on January 28.

"There is no place like this.

Can't describe enough how much I look forward to being back at the place that has meant so much to me in my life.

See you @The Garden on January 28! ”, Writes Henrik Lundqvist on Intagram.

The idea was that Lundqvist would start a new chapter in Washington Capitals.

But at the end of last year, he told me he had a serious heart defect.

And in August, the Swede announced that his ice hockey career is over.
