A former Allsvenskan football player was acquitted this summer by Malmö District Court, where he was charged with having received a yellow card in an Allsvenskan match - in exchange for borrowing SEK 300,000.

Despite this, he has been suspended from games all over the world, waiting for the Swedish Football Association's disciplinary committee to come with its verdict.

The professional set is closed for four years

That verdict came today, and was not as kind to the player as the district court.

The player, who before the suspension played in a top foreign club, is suspended for four years from all sports in Sweden, both training, competition and demonstration.

"His actions in the Allsvenskan match have - together with his background as a professional and role model for Swedish football youth - received enormous media attention and the extensive negative publicity has seriously damaged confidence in Swedish football," the disciplinary committee writes in its ruling.

Convicted national team player suspended for six years

Another three players, two of whom were national team players in futsal, are suspended.

One national team player, who was sentenced to a suspended sentence and a daily fine by the district court for bribery and gambling in connection with six matches at a lower level, is suspended for five years, and the other national team player for six years.

"Through his position as a national team player in futsal, his actions have contributed to great media attention with extensive negative publicity and thus serious damage to Swedish football," the disciplinary committee writes about one of the convicted futsal players.

The last player, who was also fined, is suspended for seven years.

XXX has taken an active part in 17 events and his own role can almost be compared to an organizer and financier, which are aggravating circumstances.

That one of the events occurred in Sweden's highest series for men, the Allsvenskan, is another aggravating circumstance.

The same applies that compensation for underperformance refers to repeated occasions ", writes the disciplinary committee.

All district court judgments have been appealed to the Court of Appeal, which will take up the cases at the turn of the month November-December.
