There was no suspense between the Ivorians and the Guineans, this September 22 in Yaoundé, in the qualifying round of the African Nations Basketball Championship (Afrobasket).

The Ivory Coast team won 81-50 and were already leading 42-25 at the break.

Note the big offensive game of Djefarima Diawara, author of 23 points, second biggest total in a match in this tournament.

This September 23, the 27-year-old winger and her partners will however have opponents of a whole new dimension in front of them.

They will indeed face in the quarterfinals the Nigerians, double champions of Africa and who had a day of rest.

A place in the semi-finals of Afrobasket 2021 against Senegal or Mozambique will be at stake. The Mozambicans dominated the Kenyans 72-50 to face the Senegalese in the quarterfinals.

Tunisian women still roughed up

In the other part of the table, we find Cameroon-Egypt and Mali-Angola.

The Angolans dismissed the Cape Verdeans 82-65 to climb to the top 8 continental.

Quite the opposite of the Egyptians who manhandled Tunisia 85-36 on Tuesday.

Crushed by the opposing defense with 10% success on shots, the Tunisians leave this edition on a new beating.

Cameroonians should be wary of Egypt.
