On Wednesday night, the teams met again, now in the league cup.

Victor Lindelöf, who was poked from the permanent midfield pair in the Premier League since Raphael Varane was recruited, got to start here.

He and Manchester United got off to a nightmare start to the match when the Argentine, Manuel Lanzini, gave the visitors the lead after just nine minutes.

The full-back, Ryan Fredericks, challenged into United's penalty area and when he was about to hit the ball in the center, it touched Lindelöf and went perfectly to Lanzini who could easily knock in the guests' lead goal.

Elanga replaced

Manchester United - who rested several of their biggest stars - chased the equalizer, but without receiving a dividend.

With a quarter left, Ole Gunnar Solskjær made a double change.

In came Bruno Fernandes - and Anthony Elanga.

The 19-year-old Swede was given the confidence to be involved and try to find a way to an equalizer, but this without United succeeding.

West Ham got their revenge from this weekend's league loss and Man United have been knocked out of the league cup this season.

On Saturday, Aston Ville are waiting at home in the Premier League for Manchester United while West Ham visit Leeds.
