At an inaugural press conference at the Whistling Straits track in Wisconsin, where last year's postponed prestige match will be decided, US captain Steve Stricker says that he has spoken to both Koepka (world route) and DeChambeau (world seven).

- They have assured me that it is not a problem and I am not a bit worried.

It is really a non-issue for me and the team, says Stricker before this weekend's meeting with Europe.

- But will they be allowed to play together?

Right now I do not think so, but things can change.

The feud between Koepka and DeChambeau started already in 2019 when Koepka criticized DeChambeau for slow play and De Chambeau replied that Koepka could take it face to face if he had anything to say.

Confronted a spectator

And from the recording laps at the PGA Championships this year, a video was spread where Koepka got very annoyed that DeChambeau went behind him when he was going to hit.

The video was spread on social media and the audience at golf competitions started shouting "Brooksie" at DeChambeau to tease him.

At one point, after losing in a special game about the victory, a then-powerful annoyed DeChambeau confronted a spectator and shouted at him to run away.

DeChambeau's coach Mike Schy tells The Irish Times that DeChambeau wants to end the feud with Koepka.

The fact that Europe's teams, despite often having lower ranked players than the USA, have achieved success in the Ryder Cup (are reigning champions) is often attributed to team cohesion.

But Stricker denies that the United States would have worse cohesion.

- It is a misconception, even if it is difficult as a loser to look as if you are welded together.

I have been in many team rooms where the chemistry between the players has been very good.

Sure, we've had temporary problems, but for the most part the mood has been very good.

The match between the USA and Europe will be decided on September 24-26 at the Whistling Straits track in Wisconsin.

The competition was supposed to have been played last year, but was postponed due to the corona pandemic.

Europe is a defender of the title.
