Thanks to his fine fourth place at the Dutch Open, golfer Darius van Driel has risen to 82nd position on the international year list.

He is now the best Dutchman on the European Tour.

Joost Luiten, who had to drop out after two laps in Cromvoirt, dropped to 86th place.

"A nice position, that's what you do it for. I will definitely enjoy that," said Van Driel (32) about his new status.

The professional player from Leidschendam also has things to look forward to on a personal level.

"I'm getting married next week," he told

with a smile.

"I don't know if we're going on honeymoon though. I'm reserve for the next tournament in Scotland. So it will be a honeymoon or a golf tournament."

Van Driel confessed that he had previously signed for a place in the top 5 of the Dutch Open.

After his last round of 69 strokes, with three birdies and no bogeys, he expressed some reservations.

Tournament win is next step for Van Driel

"I played very solidly and actually made no mistakes. But afterwards I have the feeling that a lot more had been there. That gnaws a bit. I left it on the greens in my final lap."

"I did create opportunities for myself, but I couldn't take advantage of them," Van Driel analyzed.

"It's a matter of details. I'm going to evaluate that with my coaches, to try to get even better."

For Van Driel this year it was his fifth final classification in the top 10 of an event on the European Tour.

He is therefore almost certain of his Tour card in 2022.

"Next year I can also participate in the big tournaments. Then I might be able to run an even better season. I haven't won any tournaments on the European Tour yet. That could be my next step."
