Inter make up for their continental disappointment and hit Bologna with six goals

Last season's champions, Inter, compensated for their disappointment at the continental level, with a sweeping victory over Bologna 6-1 in the fourth stage, to temporarily top the Italian Football Championship on Saturday.

Inter raised its score to 10 points, one point ahead of the Roma, Milan and Napoli teams that play their matches on Sunday.

Inter entered the match determined to erase their loss at home to Real Madrid, 0-1, at the beginning of their campaign in the Champions League, and they tied in the previous stage against Sampdoria in the local league 2-2.

Dutch right-back Denzel Dumfries, who starred for his country in the last European Cup, participated in the ranks of Inter for the first time since moving to his current team from PSG, to replace Moroccan Ashraf Hakimi, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain.

Dumfries did not disappoint because he was behind the decisive pass for the first goal and burdened the Bologna defense line throughout the match.

Inter decided the result of the match with a three-point lead in the first half, bearing the signatures of Argentine striker Lautaro Martinis (6), Slovak defender Milan Skriniar with a header (30) and Nicolo Parilla with a new pass from Dumfries (34), knowing that he lost the efforts of Argentine striker Angel Correa, so coach Simone Inzaghi replaced him with the veteran. Bosnian Edin Dzeko.

Bologna had a chance to equalize, but veteran Slovenian goalkeeper Samir Hindanovic brilliantly saved Roberto Soriano's attempt.

Inter continued their advantage in the second half and Dumfries passed a perfect ball towards Martinis, but the post saved the last ball.

Inter accomplished the task in the second half by adding a new hat-trick, scored by Matisse Vicino from close range (54) and a double by Dzeko (63 and 68).

The first goal came after a wonderful joint game between Marcel Brozovic and Martinis, who cleverly left the ball to the Bosnian striker and put it in the net, before concluding the scoring with a powerful shot past Polish goalkeeper Lukas Skorobsky.

Bologna responded with an honorary goal through Arthur Thiate (86).

Inter is defending its title this season after losing many of its members, led by its experienced coach Antonio Conte, who resigned due to a difference in views between and between the administration, especially with regard to contracts in light of the financial crisis that the club is going through, and its Belgian top scorer, Romelu Lukaku, also lost the return. To Chelsea, England, and Hakimi.
