The Dutch baseball players qualified for the final of the European Championship in Turin on Friday.

The team of national coach Evert-Jan 't Hoen booked a difficult victory over Spain in the semi-final: 9-8.

The Dutch had quite a difficult time with Spain and trailed 2-0 in the first inning.

Pitcher Mike Bolsenbroek gave up a homerun by Edison Valerio.

The Netherlands recovered in the third at bat and turned the deficit into a 5-2 lead thanks to, among other things, a homerun by Dashenko Ricardo.

Then the defending champion ran out to 9-3 and the battle seemed over.

However, Spain didn't give up yet and fought its way back to 9-8 in the last two innings.

In the end, Wendell Floranus secured the final spot.

The Netherlands will play in the final against the winner of the meeting between host country Italy and Israel.

The semi-final is scheduled for later in the evening.

The Orange squad, which had not qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, is chasing the fourth European title in a row and the 24th title in total in Turin.
