Learn about the date of the draw for the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions... and Al-Wahda awaits the identity of its next opponent

Tomorrow, the draw for the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League will be drawn, after the conclusion of the round of 16 competitions, for which the Emirati Al-Wahda team, the Saudi clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr and the Iranian Peruvian club from West Asia qualified for it.

The draw will take place at three in the afternoon (07:00 GMT), the time of the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, the headquarters of the Continental Federation of the game.

Al Hilal, the 2019 champion, was the first to qualify after its 2-0 victory over Esteghlal Tehran, Iran. His compatriot and arch-rival Al-Nasr followed him in qualifying after beating Iran's Traktor Sazi 1-0 on Tuesday. The Emirati Al Wahda qualified, for the first time, to this round since 2007, after its hard victory against its compatriot Sharjah 5-4 on penalties, after the two teams tied 1-1 in the original and extra time. As for the Iranian Persepolis, the summer of 2018 and 2020, they narrowly won away from Tajikistan's Esteghlal 1-0.

In the eastern region, Ulsan Hyundai, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Pohang Steelers of South Korea, along with Japan's Nagoya Grampus, qualified. Defending champion Ulsan Hyundai needed a penalty shootout before defeating J-League champions Kawasaki Frontale, after they drew 0-0. Ulsan's streak of 15 straight wins came to an end after being tied with Kawasaki. It was the first time since February 2020 when they drew 1-1 with FC Tokyo that they failed to win. But he remained unbeaten in the last 17 games (a club record) and did not concede a net in those matches more than once. As for Nagoya Grampus, despite falling behind twice against South Korea's Daegu, he eventually managed to win 4-2.

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, the defending champion in 2006 and 2016, beat Thailand's Batom United on penalties, while Pohang Steelers, the three-time champion, most recently in 2009, beat Cerezo Osaka of Japan 1-0.

The AFC stated that the draw "will be open, as the participating clubs are divided into two pots, the West and East regions."

In the last version, Ulsan Hyundai won the title at the expense of Peruzzi 2-1, after matches were held in the assembly system due to the restrictions of the Corona virus.
