Malango seemed affected, but his colleagues, led by goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani, tried to raise his morale and get him out of the frustration he lived in, and it caused the anger of a number of Sharjah fans, who were hoping to qualify.

Al Wahda missed the beginning of its player, Jose Angel, the first kick, but Sharjah missed the fifth kicks by Malango and the sixth by Khalil Khamis, while Tahnoun Al Zaabi scored the sixth and last for Al Wahda to qualify for the next round.
