In addition to Lerby, goalkeeper Martina Thörn and right-hander Nina Koppang are new to the national team compared to the squad for the Olympics, where Sweden finished fourth.
"We want to connect to the game we performed this summer and continue to roll on in our development curve," says Axnér to the national team's website.
In February last year, Lerby was selected for the Olympic qualifiers, which were postponed for a year due to the Olympic move.
And for the European Championship qualifiers last autumn, she managed to get a cruciate ligament injury.
Lerby missed the entire last handball season, but is now back in Lugi.
"It's both unreal and great fun.
I am just as happy to be selected now as last spring and hope that the matches will be this time.
It is always tough to undergo rehab, but I have kept my motivation up and feel that I have become stronger both as a person and as a player ", says Lerby.
Sweden starts the European Championship qualifier against Iceland in Eskilstuna on October 7 and then plays away against Turkey three days later.
The European Championships will take place in Slovenia, northern Macedonia and Montenegro in November 2022.
