Three months after the dramatic collapse of national player Christian Eriksen at the European Football Championship, another football player in Denmark collapsed on the pitch.

The 22-year-old Vendsyssel FF striker Wessam Abou Ali suddenly fell to the ground on Saturday in the second division match against Lyngby after almost an hour of play.

Shortly afterwards, a defibrillator was called, as the Ritzau news agency reported.

As with Eriksen back then, players formed a ring around Abou Ali while he was being treated.

He was brought to the hospital by ambulance and was awake, as the local newspaper "Nordjyske" reported.

“We all remember Christian Eriksen's pictures.

It wasn't just the first thing that crossed my mind, ”said coach Henrik Pedersen of the newspaper.

"Fortunately, he is conscious," wrote the club shortly afterwards on Facebook.

Abou Ali came to in the ambulance and is in a stable condition.

The match was initially interrupted when the score was 1: 1, then the referee decided not to whistle again on Saturday.
