Never has an unseeded qualifier gone all the way to a semifinal in the US Open, neither on the men's nor the women's side.

Until now.

18-year-old Emma Raducanu is in 150th place in the world rankings, but that did not stop her from defeating twelfth-seeded Belinda Bencic in the quarterfinals.

British Raducanu took home the first set with the numbers 6-3 after breaking Bencic's serve to 5-3.

In set number two, she then took the lead with 4-2 to then decide the match and win 6-4.

- I just try to focus on what I can control, my serve.

Belinda is an incredibly difficult opponent and I knew she would fight all the way to the end, says Raducanu according to The Guardian.

The tournament is Emma Raducanu's second grand slam tournament and her first US Open.

In the semifinals, she will meet Maria Sakkari from Greece and then have the chance to reach her first grand slam final, that match will be played on Friday.
