Drivers of personal mobility vehicles (VMP), such as scooters, will be obliged to use a protective helmet in the terms that are determined by regulation, according to the

new Traffic law

, which could be approved in early October.

It is one of the agreements that has been reached this Thursday in the meeting of the presentation of the

Interior Commission of

Congress on the bill that modifies the revised text of the Law on Traffic, Circulation of Motor Vehicles and Road Safety.

The parliamentary groups have agreed to

incorporate into the text the mandatory nature of the helmet for users of personal mobility vehicles, as requested by the PSOE, PP, PNV and Citizens

in respective amendments, according to Efe.

The new rule, which will be renamed the Traffic, Circulation and Road Safety Law,

increases from 3 to 6 the points to be deducted from the license for driving "holding the mobile with one hand

.

"

The new Law also

raises from 3 to 4 the points detracted for not using the seat belt or doing it incorrectly

, child restraint systems (child seats), motorcycle helmets and other protection elements.

However, it is a first approximation.

The next one will take place on the 22nd and in it the amendments that may be

subject to transactional will

be processed

.

One of the aspects that have been postponed is the

elimination of the possibility that cars and motorcycles have of exceeding

the generic speed limits set for conventional roads

by 20 km / h when they overtake

other vehicles, which is included in the new regulation.

According to the bill, its elimination is the last important aspect that remains so that the

adaptation of speed limits

on conventional roads to those established in the European Union is real.

The groups of

Cs, ERC, Plural and Vox have presented amendments to maintain the possibility of exceeding those 20 km / h when overtaking

.

If the deadlines are met, the law could be approved in early October.

According to the Popular Party, the Government is in a hurry to approve the law, since it has included in it the transposition of

a European directive on electronic tolls

, whose deadline ends on October 20.
