The former player of Nîmes, Nice, and PSG had been in a deep coma since March 1982 because of a dosage error during the anesthesia, before a trivial operation following a knee injury suffered with his Mulhouse club.
His wife Bernadette had always kept him close, hoping for "a medical miracle" that never happened.
