Skellefteå came to the match with only a victory on three attempts in the CHL group game, but they started well.

In the first period they went up in a 2-0 lead and already early in the second the German new acquisition Stefan Loibl came in from the left and put in 3-0 nicely.

But then the home team lost focus and let the Berlin team into the match - and they did it quickly.

Two goals in half a minute

50 seconds after Loibl's goal went Nicholas Jensen made it 3-1 through a shot and just half a minute later Giovanni Fiore shot in 3-2 immediately after the technical.

Before the period was over, the guests had equalized through Matthew White, assisted by Fiore.

It was a shaken Skellefteå that went to the break, but they came out and took back the lead when Adam Mascherin nicely led 4-3.

Oskar Nilsson then put 5-3 in the open box with a few seconds left to play.

Important victory

Skellefteå's next CHL match is at home against Tammerforslaget Tappara on October 5, but before that the SHL season has time to start.

Today's victory means that Skellefteå is third in the group where the two best go to the playoffs, with two matches left to play.

Winning was thus almost necessary for hope to still be alive.

Växjö lost in Germany

In another group, Växjö Lakers lost 2-1 away against German Bremerhaven and they thus lost group lead to tonight's opponents.

Goal scorer for Växjö was Olle Lycksell.
