Before Sunday's final, Peder Fredricson was in fifth place with Catch Me Not S, after riding flawlessly in all rounds except one where the crew had four errors.

In the first final round, the Swede put a flawless round and advanced to a silver place.

However, the final round did not start ultimately - the gelding was in a boom that fell and four errors plus a time error made the gold feel far away.

Reigning European champion Martin Fuchs who sat a flawless round advanced past Fredricson.

When the German Andre Thieme then passed the round with four errors and thus secured the gold, it was clear that Peder Fredricson became a bronze medalist.

- You are always angry when you tear, but at the same time I am of course happy for a medal.

I do not have many bronzes so it is good, he says to SVT Sport.

- I'm super happy about this medal.

My horse jumped super well.

Everyone here wants to go zero and within time, but we fought on well.

I can be happy about bronze.

Give me half an hour and I'm super happy.

True championship rider

SVT Sports guest expert Fredrik Jönsson praises Fredricson:

- It is big and strong of him to hold together.

He's a true championship rider.

It is great to see that one and the same rider, on different horses, can take so many medals.

- He's a little disappointed.

You should be.

But he will be genuinely happy for a while.

The national team captain Henrik Ankarcrona also pays tribute to the bronze medalist.

- It shows what an incredibly strong rider he is, picking medal after medal.

Coming home from an Olympics where he did incredibly well and reloading in a short time and coming here and taking another medal, it's just the hat off.

The winner Andre Thieme says this to SVT Sport:

- It is fantastic.

We knew we could demolish an obstacle after several demolished but I had the demolition early in the track and thought "ojoj".

But we did, I'm blessed with that horse.
