Earlier today, the news came that Armand Duplantis, who was registered for Finnkampen, will not participate in the pole vault competition.

The reason is the tough competition program.

In the space of eight days, the Swedish star has competed in three Diamond League galas - most recently on Friday in Brussels.

- The schedule has been problematic.

The competition in Brussels was late so I came home late and had a tough travel day yesterday.

The timing did not work so well, but I am glad that I can at least be here, says Armand Duplantis to SVT Sport.

Duplantis says that Finnkampen means a lot to him.

- Finnkampen is special to me.

I competed here for the first time when I was 15, and it was probably basically the first time I competed for Sweden.

So it has a special place in my heart.

The 21-year-old won Olympic gold at the beginning of August and was honored at Stockholm Stadium together with the other Olympic participants.

- The whole of Sweden followed me in Tokyo and supported me.

To be able to celebrate with the audience, it's a special feeling, he says.

Duplantis has won both Olympic and European Championship gold and broken world records.

But he does not have difficulty finding motivation.

- I always want to jump higher and win everything I can win and do legendary things.

I feel very motivated and feel that I have a lot left to give.
