There was a lot of talk for a magical Swedish Saturday on Haig Avenue when Everton hosted Manchester City in the premiere of the Super League.

Two of the home team's new acquisitions, the Swedes Anna Anvegård and Nathalie Björn, were included from the start.

This summer's Olympic heroes, who left FC Rosengård for games in the English top league this summer, however, had a tough first working day instead.

Everton went on a heavy loss with 4-0.

Heavy first half

However, it was close to Swedish early in the goal record.

In the 19th minute, Anna Anvegård was close to scoring her second goal in the Everton shirt.

The 24-year-old striker fired a heavy shot that forced Manchester City goalkeeper Karima Taieb to a heavy save.

After that, however, it went downhill for Everton.

Seven minutes later, the guests scored.

Victoria Losada received a shot in the penalty area and thundered the ball in through the post and in behind Alexandra Maciver.

It did not take long for the next goal.

Janine Beckie was served in the penalty area and with a direct shot set the guests' second goal of the day.

The first half also had more goals in it.

Khadija Shaw, known as "Bunny" got a chance to score the team's third goal - and did so.

Great lead for City in the half-time break.

Bennison substituted at halftime

More Swedes would be on the field in the second half.

Super talent Hanna Bennison, who also joined Everton this summer, was replaced after the half-time break.

The 18-year-old, on the other hand, got into a precarious situation and had difficulty accomplishing anything from his midfield position.

It was instead Manchester City who would receive a larger dividend.

Stephanie Houghton snorted beautifully into a free kick that meant 4-0 for the light blues.

Manchester City will face Real Madrid in a return match in the Champions League qualifiers next.

The first match ended 1-1.

For Everton's, a league match against Zecira Musovic and Magdalena Eriksson's Chelsea awaits away.
