Hansi Flick has to do without captain Manuel Neuer and veteran Thomas Müller at his international premiere as national coach.

Regular goalkeeper Neuer is not available for the national soccer team's World Cup qualifying match against Liechtenstein in St. Gallen on Thursday (8.45 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for World Cup qualifications and on RTL).

His Munich club colleague Müller is leaving the DFB quarter in Stuttgart due to muscular problems on his left thigh and is therefore also out of the following games against Armenia and Iceland.

"We have enough players on board and can also replace him," said Flick on Wednesday about Müller.

You don't want to take any chances.

For Neuer, Bernd Leno from Arsenal FC will be in goal against Liechtenstein.

The 35-year-old should be ready for action again on Sunday against Armenia in Stuttgart and three days later against Iceland.

Flick drew a positive conclusion from the first days of training in Stuttgart.

“The team is tearing itself apart here for Germany.

That is the be-all and end-all. That’s why we’re very convinced of the team, ”said Flick.
