On the 31st of the 8th day of the Tokyo Paralympics, an Afghan track and field athlete who once abandoned participation in the tournament participated in the men's long jump due to the collapse of his home country.

Two athletes from Afghanistan were scheduled to participate in the Tokyo Paralympics, but the local Paralympic Committee had no means to safely come to Japan after the Taliban seized power and the administration collapsed. It was announced that it had decided to abandon participation.

However, after that, after evacuating to Afghanistan, they came to Japan on a flight from France on the 28th of this month, and they were able to participate again.

On the 31st, Hussein Rasuri, who lost his left arm due to a land mine, participated in a class with a disability in the long jump of track and field men at the National Stadium.

Initially, he was planning to participate in the 100 meters, but when he came to Japan, the competition had already ended, so Rasuri, who suddenly changed his participation event, had his right hand in front of the screen showing the Afghanistan flag when introducing the players. After hitting it, I raised my hand high and entered with a smile.

In the competition, he decided all three jumps from the speedy run-up, and in the third jump he jumped the longest 4 meters and 46 centimeters of the day, but he could not advance to the fourth and subsequent times by the top eight people in 13th place.

Another Afghanistan national team player, Zakia Khudadadi, will be competing in the Taekwondo Women's 49kg class on September 1st.

The IPC = International Paralympic Committee has decided that there are no special cases for the two athletes in the post-competition coverage area due to mental considerations.
