Tsitsipas, notorious on the tour for taking long breaks, took their breaks after the second, third and fourth sets.

It made the former world setter Murray, who now plays with an artificial hip, get angry.

- I lost respect for him, it was a joke, says 34-year-old Murray after the eight, nine-minute breaks according to AP.

Murray was also upset during the match.

With a 5-3 lead in the second set tiebreak, he lost his footing on the track and fell.

There was a big sweat stain on the track and Murray complained loudly about his shoes not giving up.

He lost the tiebreak 7-9 but immediately broke Tsitsipas and took the third set 6-3.

Tsitsipas wants to sort out the disagreement

The heat and high humidity made the conditions tough to play in and Murray, whose clothes stuck to his body, soaked up copious amounts of water - his bench looked like a better drink table on Stureplan.

Tsitsipas, a finalist in the French Open this summer, is keen to cope with the frosty relationship.

- If there is something he wants to tell me, we should sit down and talk about what went wrong.

I do not think I have broken any rules, says Tsitsipas.

Last year, the tournament was played without an audience and under severe corona restrictions.

During the first day of the year, 53,783 spectators were counted in a New York without restrictions.

Murray's career has appeared to be threatened several times after repeated hip surgeries.

He is now ranked 112th in the world.
