Finland has subscribed to bronze medals in the Women's World Cup over the years.

The Calgary Championship was no exception.

After losing the semifinal against the USA - 0-3 - the Finns went into the match against Switzerland as a big favorite and grabbed the baton immediately.

Finland went from 2-0 after Tanja Niskanen first scored 1-0 at the beginning of the first period and then was behind Ella Viitasuo's 2-0 goal early in the second.

Brynäs Lara Stalder equalized just over three minutes into the second, but in vain.

"Been third best"

After Switzerland neglected and incurred its second expulsion for too many players on the ice, Finland's points queen Petra Nieminen struck out and increased to 3-1 at the end of the second period.

Finland thus secured its 13th World Cup bronze and its 14th World Cup medal in total.

- They are worthy winners of the bronze and have been the third best nation in this tournament, says the expert Maria Rooth in SVT's broadcast.

The final between Canada and the USA will be played on Wednesday night Swedish time and will be broadcast on SVT1 and SVT Play.
