Barcelona adds Aguero to their list after Busquets and Alba agree to cut their salary

Barcelona said on Tuesday that Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba had agreed to cut their salaries in order to allow new signing Sergio Aguero to be registered with the Catalan side and increase the club's maximum financial fair play regulations.

The gesture from the players came after a similar move by defender Gerard Pique, which allowed Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and Ray Manaj to be included in the team's list in the Spanish Football League.

"Sergio and Jordi Alba have agreed to make changes to the financial terms of their contracts, which included a reduction in wages for this season and a postponement of payments for the remaining years," Barcelona said in a statement.

Barcelona did not disclose the details of the wage cut.

After Lionel Messi's departure to Paris Saint-Germain this month, Barcelona president Joan Laporta said that without the Argentine star's salary, the club's annual wage bill would still represent about 95 percent of revenue, exceeding the 70 percent cap set by La Liga.

Barcelona is fourth in the Spanish league standings with seven points from three matches.

Barcelona meets Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stage on September 15 after the international break.
