27-year-old Salum Kashafali competes in class T12, a class for the visually impaired, and was one of Norway's biggest gold jumps in Tokyo.

And he delivered when it mattered most.

Kashafali, who has only five percent sharp vision, must use side vision.

He led the race all the way and when he reached the finish line and saw the result, he threw himself down on the track with a roar.

The clock stopped at 10.43 and thus he improved his own world record by two hundredths.

- It's surreal.

You have seen in front of you that you take the gold but you will still be surprised when you reach the finish line because these are some of the best runners in the world.

I do not know what to say, I'm just so amazingly happy.

I have achieved what I wanted, I do not know if I have understood it yet.

says Salum Kashafali to NRK.

In the TV broadcast, you could see his family celebrating wildly on the couch at home.

- The family has been with this gold all the way, thank you for all the support, says Kashafali.
