In the autumn of 2019, Hugo Lopez took over as coach of the Swedish national basketball team.

When the assignment as national team captain clashes with the new job as coach in the Japanese league, Lopez announced that he is leaving the national basketball team.

Viktor Gaddefors is one of Sweden's foremost basketball players, but has turned down the national team since February 2020.

But now that Lopez is leaving, it opens up for a comeback already in November for the Swedish star.

- It will be a little more interesting.

I can safely say that, says Viktor Gaddefors to SVT Sport and continues:

- We will see what happens before the next qualifier.

If I feel like playing, and if I feel like being with and can give my all.

"Did not get my best"

The reason why Gaddefors could not participate.

Depends on personal reasons but also the relationship with Lopez.

- When I said no lately, it has been based on myself, he says and continues:

- I did not feel that I went with Hugo.

And I did not feel that I could get my best whether I was playing or if I was on the side.

Moving abroad

There was no extension with Södertälje - where Viktor Gaddefors was named MVP last season.

Instead, the Swede is waiting for a foreign contract that feels right, and the call can come as early as next week.

- Just to get a contract on the table, I'm ready to go, he concludes.
