Thanks to the kind help of his favorite opponent, Bayer Leverkusen underpinned its ambitions in the Bundesliga.

The team of coach Gerardo Seoane deservedly won 4-1 at FC Augsburg, but benefited mainly from two own goals within eleven minutes in their second win of the season.

The Augsburgers continued their horror series against Bayer: In 21 league duels so far, no victory has been achieved, but they have now lost their 14th.

With their first away win since March, Leverkusen now has seven points to their credit after three games, and FCA has their backs against the wall after their second home defeat.

The Werkself took the lead in the third minute with a spectacular own goal by Iago.

The defender lifted the ball over his goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz during a rescue operation.

In the 14th minute, Florian Niederlechner faked a shot from Kerem Demirbay unsustainable.

In the 30th minute Niederlechner hit the right goal, he was in turn the beneficiary of a bad failure by Mitchel Bakker.

It was the first goal of the season for Markus Weinzierl's team.

Patrik Schick finally made the decision (75th) before Florian Wirtz (81st) put the finishing touches after a mistake by Gikiewicz.

The FCA had started purposefully.

After just 16 seconds, Charles Aranguiz had to clear up against Andre Hahn in dire need.

It was a wake-up call for the Werkself, they took command and quickly took the lead thanks to Iago's blackout.

Shortly afterwards, Bayer was lucky that referee Benjamin Brand did not award a penalty in an attack by Bakker on Hahn.

Otherwise, the guests had everything under control.

Only a mistake by Bakker brought the FCA back into play, which had to do without captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, Jan Moravek and, for a short time, Arne Maier.

Augsburg balanced the playful inferiority with commitment.

Daniel Caligiuri (54th) and Niederlechner (61st) just missed the 2: 2 - Schick then decided the game after a counterattack that was well worth seeing.
