- When Italy plays well, we get many new players.

Most years we get more than 350,000 new young people who want to start playing volleyball.

That's what the Italian Ettore Guidetti, Sweden's national team captain, says.

The difference between the size of volleyball in his old homeland and his new homeland is gigantic.

In his city of Modena alone, there are 60 clubs.

Now he hopes that Sweden's European Championship success will inspire a Swedish volleyball boom.

Tomorrow, the home nation Bulgaria awaits in front of at least 3,000 loud fans.

A tough task.

But that Swedish volleyball has reached here is unbelievable.

In Sweden, volleyball is a very small sport - 10,000 thousand active players.

And that in a sport that some claim is the greatest in the world.

At the European Championships, they compete with countries such as the Netherlands, where they have over 2000 volleyball clubs - Sweden has 185.

Sweden's opponents Bulgaria have at least ten times as many players as in Sweden…

See the feature above, where the Swedish players give their views on what the successes in the European Championships can lead to.
