A native of Chelyabinsk, Shabalina won the 100m butterfly swim.

In the final swim, the 26-year-old Russian woman showed a time of 1: 03.59.

Thus, she broke the world record (1: 03.68), which she set herself two years ago.

For the Russian national team, this gold award was the first at a competition in Tokyo.

The Paralympics runs from 24 August to 5 September.
