The Tokyo Paralympic Games, which will start on the 24th, will be attended by a total of 4403 athletes from 161 countries and regions, as well as the refugee team, the highest number of participants ever.

At a press conference on the 24th of the IPC = International Paralympic Committee and the Games Organizing Committee, IPC's Director of Public Relations Craig Spence announced the number of athletes participating in the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

According to this, from 161 countries and regions, and the refugee team, there will be 2550 male athletes and 1853 female athletes, for a total of 4403 people.

The number of female athletes was also the highest, surpassing the previous Rio de Janeiro Games, which was the highest number ever, by more than 70 people.

Of the 162 athletes participating in the tournament, the largest number of 254 will participate in the Japanese team.

On the other hand, according to the IPC, New Zealand will not participate in the opening ceremony of the tournament, which will be held from 8 pm on the 24th, except for the flag bearers.

Regarding the reason, spokesman Spence said, "Because the match will start the next day, the New Zealand team has contacted me to manage the physical condition of the athletes carefully. The IPC must respect it."
