There was no singles tournament in the Olympics in Tokyo for Kristian Karlsson, who, on the other hand, was in the team competition.

There was a travel pass in the quarter finals together with Anton Källberg.

But when national team captain Jörgen Persson presented the squad for the team European Championships in September, Kristian Karlsson was not present.

The 30-year-old, who is second highest in Sweden, is very disappointed with the decision.

- It does not feel like I want to continue playing for the national team.

Right now it feels unprofitable, he says to Ttela.

"Tough for me"

Karlsson believes that he has not received a full explanation for the investigation.

To Swedish Radio, he says that it has to do with how Karlsson behaved at the Olympics.

- When the singles game started, it was very tough for me.

When Anton Källberg played his first match against a clearly lower ranked US player, I pulled away a bit.

I sat and watched the match and supported Anton but did not sit fully with the Swedish squad.

I sat a bit by myself because I thought I needed it.

It seems that it has had quite large consequences afterwards.

Persson answers

According to Jörgen Persson, the selection is based on sporting grounds and not on Karlsson's behavior during the Olympics.

- This is not revenge for what happened at the Olympics.

We have many good players and there is tough competition for places.

This time I wanted to give Truls the chance because he has done well and recently won the WTT (world tour), Persson tells Aftonbladet.

The European Team Championships in Cluj, Romania, run from September 28 to October 3.

On the men's side, Mattias Falck, Jon Persson, Anton Källberg and Truls Möregårdh have been selected.
