It was a real Swedish success at the British Open which took place at Carnoustie in Scotland last weekend.

After a dramatic final day, Anna Nordqvist secured the victory on the 18th hole against Danish Nanna Koerstz Madsen.

Something that gave the Swede a real boost up in the world rankings.

Before the competition, Nordqvist was ranked 54th in the world.

After winning, she is currently ranked the 16th best golfer on the women's side.

Madelene Sagström also made it into the top 50 in the world.

Her shared second place at Carnoustie lifts her from 77th place in the rankings to a 46th place.

The closest Swede in the world ranking is Pernilla Lindberg, who falls three places to place 170 in the new ranking.

Linnea Ström (184) and Caroline Hedwall (198) are also in the top 200.

Former world setter Nelly Korda retains her first place by a good margin.
