Bayern Munich sets a record in the major leagues in Europe

German football club Bayern Munich announced that it has set a record in the top five league competitions in Europe, by scoring goals in 74 consecutive matches in all competitions.

Bayern Munich broke the previous record, which was registered in the name of Real Madrid, who scored in 73 consecutive matches during 2016 and 2017, after Bayern beat Cologne 3/2 yesterday, Sunday, in the second stage of the German League (Bundesliga).

The last time German champions Bayern Munich failed to score a goal was the 0-0 draw with Leipzig on February 9, 2020.

Since that match, Bayern Munich has scored 214 goals, an average of 2.9 goals per game, and Robert Lewandowski alone scored 72 goals, including the advance goal for Bayern Munich in yesterday's match, before his colleague Serge Gnabry added the other two goals to the team.

"He is one of the reasons for this record," Gnabry said of his team-mate Lewandowski. "It feels great to be part of this record. I hope we can continue this for other matches."

"Of course, it's nice to always score, especially for the fans," said Bayern goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer.

Bayern Munich held this record in the league competitions in Germany, England, Italy, Spain and France.
