The Tokyo Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games revealed that during the Olympic Games, 150 athletes and others complained of suspected heat stroke, and eight of them were transported by ambulance.

At the Paralympics, there are athletes who have difficulty adjusting their body temperature due to disabilities, so the Organizing Committee plans to take more thorough measures.

According to the Games Organizing Committee, between the 21st of last month and the 8th of this month, when the Olympic Games were held, 150 people were involved in the Games who complained of suspected heat stroke.

The breakdown was 59 athletes, and the remaining 91 were Organizing Committee staff and volunteers.

Eight people were transported by ambulance, of which six were athletes.

No one was hospitalized.

Regarding measures for the Paralympics, Hidemasa Nakamura, chief of the Organizing Committee's main operation center, said at a press conference on the 21st, "Since there are athletes who have difficulty in controlling body temperature due to disabilities, as with the new corona measures, the people concerned should be careful. We will respond in detail while sharing. "

Regarding the response to suddenly change the start time in competitions such as soccer and tennis at the Olympic Games due to the influence of the heat, "I will think flexibly to the last minute if requested, but it is better for athletes to notify the change as soon as possible. It's good, "he said, and expressed his intention to consider improvement measures with the IPC = International Paralympic Committee.
