The head of the UAE and Arab Basketball Federations, Major General Ismail Al Gergawi, expressed his happiness that the administrations of the Sharjah and Al Bataeh clubs have decided to participate in the first team in both clubs, in the Arab Championship for Champions Clubs, held in Alexandria, Egypt, from September 29 to October 9 next.

Al Gergawi said in a press statement, "The decision of the two clubs comes with the support of the Sharjah Sports Council, which is keen, headed by Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, to represent the Emirati basketball in a major tournament that brings together the elite of Arab clubs on the levels of the continents of Asia and Africa."

He added: "Sharjah has its golden mark as the only Emirati team that managed to win the title of Arab clubs, when it won the 2011 edition that was held in Abu Dhabi. Sharjah also succeeded in achieving titles and advanced positions in the Gulf by winning the 2018 and 2019 Gulf Cups, and we look forward to continuing the honorable representation of the state basket in the Alexandria Championship. ».
