Maja Åskag dominated the three-stage final of the U20 European Championships in Tallinn in July.

The 18-year-old talent eventually won by 14.05 meters - only 24 centimeters from Carolina Klüft's Swedish record.

A few days later she struck again.

Åskag took her second gold when she jumped 6.80 in the long jump final.

Now she is a medal candidate in both disciplines ahead of the U20 WC in Nairobi, Kenya.

And the shape feels good.

- It feels fantastic.

I am very grateful to be here and be able to compete, she says.

- I had a warm-up workout today, my legs feel very "jumpy" and energetic, so I am tagged.

It was a few days off after the success in the U20 European Championships, before she started hard training again for about two weeks.

Before the championship in Nairobi, the Swede has trained a little calmer to maintain his form.

Åskag has a clear goal.

- It is difficult to repeat what I did in Tallinn, but of course the goal is to take two medals.

Whether it is gold, silver or bronze is difficult to say now considering that it is first qualifier and then final in both (triple jump and long jump), she says.

Three Swedes participate in the U20 WC.

In addition to Maja Åskag, Gabriel Wallmark also competes in three steps and Oskar Edlund in the 400 meter hurdles.
