Money for (a lot) of money, everyone is happy.

A few days after being crowned Olympic vice champion in javelin in Tokyo, Poland's Maria Andrejczyk auctioned off her medal to help fund the operation of a young 8-month-old Polish boy, Miloszek, who suffers from heart defect and must undergo an expensive operation in the United States.

“I thought about it for a long time. It was the first fundraiser I had watched and I knew it was the right one. Miloszek has a serious heart defect, he needs an operation. A medal is just an object, but it can be of great value to others. This money can save lives, instead of collecting dust in a closet, ”the athlete wrote on his Instagram account.

But the good story does not end there since, after winning the auction hands down (against 200,000 zlotys, or about 44,000 euros), the Polish convenience store company Zabka decided to return the medal to Maria Andrejczyk. , welcoming in passing the "magnificent and extremely noble gesture" of their compatriot.

At the same time, hundreds of people took part in the collection, making it possible to collect the sum necessary for the operation (330,000 euros).

The young boy is due to fly to the United States very soon.
