Djurgården's forward talent, William Eklund, went as seventh overall in the draft last month where he was tinged by San Jose.

Last Friday he was on the ice when Djurgården won its first pre-season match after a swinging event up in Leksand which ended 6-5 after a penalty kick to the Stockholmers.

After the match, it was confirmed that William Eklund will go over to San Jose to be part of their development camp that they are organizing this week - something that Djurgården's coach, Barry Smith, as late as last Friday did not know about.

- What? What are you saying?

Nobody told me that.

That can not be true.

He will be with us.

I need to talk to William.

The best thing is that he plays with us next season and gets a lot of playing time.

"I have talked to San Jose's general manager Doug Wilson and told him how I look at William," Smith told Aftonbladet on Friday.

"Will be clear"

Now Djurgården has confirmed that Eklund has signed an agreement with the NHL club, but that the SHL club's hope is that Eklund will still play with them in Sweden during the coming season.

"In that dialogue, we will be clear that we believe that Djurgården and SHL are the best place for continued development for William Eklund during the 2021/2022 season," Djurgården writes on its website.
