Samuel Kalou's colleague in Bordeaux, Remi Auden, said that the striker is fine after collapsing in the sixth minute of their team's away match against Olympique de Marseille in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Odin replaced Kalou in the 14th minute after the 23-year-old Nigerian fell to the ground on a hot evening at the Velodrome, and paramedics rushed to the field carrying a stretcher to treat him.

Surrounded by his teammates after his fall, Kalou managed to get up and leave the field with their help, putting a bundle of snow on his head.

The striker, who also collapsed due to dehydration during Nigeria's training session at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, resumed play for several minutes, but appeared unsteady and was eventually replaced.

"According to the doctor, it was just a vertigo, he will undergo more tests, and we will know more tomorrow (Monday), it is still very shocking," said Auden, who scored the equalizer for Bordeaux to come from two goals down and clinch a 2-2 draw.

"We inevitably thought about what happened with (Danish midfielder Christian) Eriksen, the whole team and everyone was afraid, we are happy for Kalou, everything is fine, and that is the most important thing."

And the stadium was completely silent during the incident, which brought back memories of Eriksen's collapse in the European Championship 2020 last June, when he suffered a heart attack during the first half of the Denmark-Finland match in Copenhagen.

Eriksen's life was saved after he performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the field and used a defibrillator to restore his heart to work, before he was transferred to the hospital, where he recovered after undergoing heart surgery.
