It was a week of horror for Eintracht.

First the embarrassing 0-2 in the DFB Cup at the third-class SV Waldhof Mannheim.

Now the teaching demonstration at the Bundesliga rival in Dortmund.

Yes, coach Oliver Glasner and sports director Markus Krösche are right with their self-criticism: A good deal of work is waiting for Eintracht.

The fact that the team, which started the season with great ambitions, was still well served with the 2: 5 at BVB and, above all, had nothing to counter the force, passion and assertiveness of the famous Erling Haaland, is not a good interim report. Recently, players like Makoto Hasebe and Djibril Sow had talked about making the attack on the Champions League and thus reaching the premier class for the first time a goal in Frankfurt. Did the two of them see a mirage while dreaming?

Of course, after just one game of points, it's far too early to question everything.

But those in charge should ask questions.

The 2: 5 in Dortmund, like a week earlier in Mannheim, showed that there are still considerable deficits in the team on the defensive and there is a lack of class on the offensive.

The so-called target player, i.e. the man who should reliably score goals centrally after the departure of André Silva, is not there yet.

Or its potential has yet to be awakened.

Rafael Borré, who came to Europe from South America with high hopes, has shown in the beginning what he is capable of.

Up until the moment when the young Norwegian Jens Petter Hauge scored the only "real" goal in Frankfurt - the equalizer came from an own goal by Dortmund - Borré was the only Eintracht professional who posed halfway danger in the offensive. The Colombian tried his luck primarily with his head - so far in vain.

Eintracht, who had been completely renewed in several positions, knew even before the start of the competitive game in the Cup that they were facing a season full of uncertainties. In order to be prepared for this in terms of sport, coach Glasner has to look for the solutions he has mentioned many times - and find them too. It is true that other competitors will also lose in Dortmund. But it always depends on the way. At the start of the season, almost nothing went right at Eintracht. And the misery with the many goals conceded, which Glasner is determined to fix, continues.
