The Italian League broadcasts matches on YouTube in the Middle East

The Italian Football League (Serie A) said on Friday it had agreed to broadcast some of the tournament's matches live in the Middle East and North Africa via YouTube, as negotiations to sell broadcast rights for the tournament to any of the networks in the region stall.

The association has been seeking over several months to conclude a deal to sell the rights to broadcast the first domestic league matches in the next three seasons in the region, which includes several countries, including Egypt, Morocco and the Gulf states.

After a video conference, the association said in a statement that it had "decided to move forward with the establishment of an Arabic-speaking channel via the YouTube platform."

The statement added, "The channel will broadcast five matches in each round of the league, and the broadcast will be limited to the mentioned region."

Sources close to this matter said that the Italian League clubs agreed to broadcast matches via YouTube for a year, and that this broadcast would stop if an agreement was reached to sell broadcasting rights in the region.
