"This initiative once again positions PSG as one of the most innovative and avant-garde brands in global sports," they wrote according to Reuters.

PSG announces that the Argentine's sign-on bonus will be paid in part in the club's own cryptocurrency "$ PSG Fan Tokens".

However, they do not want to specify how much of the bonus is paid in the currency.

So-called "fan tokens" are club-specific cryptocurrencies which means that the owner can get certain benefits or some influence within the club, for example over smaller decisions.

This year, Manchester City and Milan, among others, have launched similar cryptocurrencies.
