Sweden has participated in all Olympic editions since women's football was added to the program in 1996. Most recently, at the London Olympics in 2016, Blågult won a silver medal after the final loss to Germany.

Now they have the opportunity to take home the long-awaited gold.

- I think the chances are very good, now the first gold, Victoria Sandell Svensson, who has made over 160 international appearances, comes to SVT Sport.

"A little more special"

A final at the Olympics is in many ways the biggest stage in women's football, and to get far in a championship requires focus from the start.

- Football is about you playing well from the first group game match because you want to play a final in the end.

- Of course it's a little more special, but it's the same charge.

Nilla Fischer has been a cog in the Swedish back line for many years.

She was forced to turn down the championship due to expansion in the family.

- It is fantastic fun to follow them, I have seen every minute, Fischer says to SVT Sport.

- I do not regret my decision, but it is clear that it would have been fantastic to be there.

The center line becomes important

Sweden was set against Canada in the World Cup eighth in 2019. Then the Swedes left as winners after Stina Blackstenius scored the only goal of the match.

- It is incredibly important that the central line with Hedvig, Seger, Kosovare, Blackstenius works.

Sweden are big favorites on paper, says Sandell Svensson

Fischer is, just like Sandell Svensson, optimistic before the match - and she has a super tip.

- The chances are very great to win tomorrow.

They have been able to walk around many players, perform incredibly good football and have been effective in front of goal.

I think it will be 3-1 to Sweden.

The match will be played on Friday, at 14.00.
