After three failed attempts at jerk, the New Zealander was knocked out.
Her participation has made headlines and been questioned by both former athletes and competitors, who believe that she has advantages over other women - and that it could be abused by countries in the hunt for more medals.
- I am not completely unaware of the controversy my participation has caused, says Hubbard.
- When we get a more understanding world, I think people will realize that people like me are just people.
And therefore I hope that it will be enough to just be here.
All I have wanted is to be seen as an athlete.
The 43-year-old was twice as old as some of her competitors and admits that age is starting to take its toll.
Now the career can be over.
- When I look back, I hope that this is only a small part of the story.
