The luster of gold, silver, and even bronze has disappeared from the neck of the Emirati sport in the Olympic Games currently being held in the Japanese capital, "Tokyo 2020,", and it will wait until "Paris 2024" to try again, in search of the lost luster of gold since 2004, when the shooter Sheikh Ahmed was crowned Bin Hasher Al Maktoum won the only gold medal in the history of UAE participation, followed by Sergio Toma in bronze in judo competitions in Rio de Janeiro 2016.

Officials attributed the return from Tokyo without medals to several reasons, most notably that the preparation for Emirati participation lacks integrated strategic planning between the General Sports Authority, the Olympic Committee, federations, sports councils and parents for a period of no less than eight years, noting that some specialized sports facilities are not available for a number of sports. Also, some players are forced to pay sums of money from their own money for the use of some stadiums or gyms in their game, as they put it.

They told «Emirates Today» that the beginning of construction should be from the school, and planning in a scientific and thoughtful manner to create an integrated sports system, aimed at making an Olympic champion during the upcoming sessions, demanding that any sports official or sports federation be held accountable for not being able to accomplish the drawn plans.

Emirati sports have participated in the Olympic Games since the 1984 Los Angeles Games, and were represented by 75 athletes who participated in the Olympic Games, but the result resulted in only two "gold and bronze" medals, despite the great development witnessed by the country, and it occupies the first places in various fields.

The results of the Emirati delegation in the current Tokyo Olympics resulted in unsatisfactory results in four sports, as the shooter Saif Bin Fattis came in 24th place in the skeet competition with 117 points, and the judo pair Victor Sktov and Ivan Romanko left from the 32nd round in the under-73kg and under-100kg weight category. Respectively, swimmer Youssef Al-Matrooshi came in 50th place in the 100-meter freestyle, with a time of 51:50 seconds, while runner Mohammed Hassan Al-Noubi exited the competitions after recording a time of 10:59 seconds in the preliminary round, and 10:64 seconds in the qualifying rounds, to occupy the eighth place.

"Emirates Today" monitors, in an investigation that extends to three episodes, the reasons for the failure to achieve a medal in Tokyo, by conducting meetings with heads and officials of sports federations, players who have previously participated in the Olympics, and academics, to find solutions that support the next participation after four years.

• Athletes are forced to pay sums of money for the use of some sports facilities.

• Demands to hold accountable any sports official who is not able to complete the plans for preparing the Olympic champion.

• The beginning of construction from the school .. and the integration of the authority, the Olympic Committee, the federations and the parents.
