It was later revealed that there was an error in the test results of a South African golf player who gave up participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after being notified of COVID-19.

Paula Leto, who was selected as the South African national golf player, returned the right to play on the 31st of last month after testing positive for COVID-19 before departing for Tokyo.

But leto's positive test was an error, golf media reported.

Leto withdrew after testing positive after finishing the third round of the Amundi Evian Championship, a major event on the LPGA Tour.

Leto, who had no symptoms such as fever, was tested three more times, but all came back negative.

However, following the guidelines that if he wants to leave France, go through South Africa, and then go to Tokyo, he must undergo two additional tests and all come back negative. .

In the end, leto, who was finally judged negative, was able to participate in the ISPS Handa World Invitational, which ended that day, thanks to consideration of the LPGA tour, and was tied for 40th.

Leto, who had to work hard to keep his LPGA Tour card due to poor performance this year, suffered the bad luck of missing out on a once-in-a-lifetime Olympics due to a test error and withdrew from a major tournament with a large prize money.

Leto, who had already been vaccinated, lamented, "I'm missing out on both the Olympics and the LPGA Tour card."
